Things to Do...

Light posting this morning. I have a couple of things on deck that preclude my usual routine. First and foremost: the techs from Yucca Telecom will are supposed to be here within the hour to install the on-prem equipment for my two-megabit fiber connection. Interesting, that. The actual fiber isn’t scheduled to be put in the ground until next month at the earliest, June at the latest. The drill, as explained to me, is the required equipment will be installed and then I’ll be “notified” when my connection is activated. More will be revealed shortly, I assume.

Second: time marches on— in its inexorable way —and the Ides of April draw nigh. I’ve been looking at the unopened Turbo-Tax 2006 box sitting on my desk for nearly two weeks now. I’ve resolved that today is the day I actually install the software and “do” my taxes. Taxes aren’t nearly the pain they used to be, back in the day when I actually made real money. Nonetheless I always wind up owing My Favorite Uncle a few bucks. Last year I wrote the gubmint a check for five whole Yankee Dollars. I’m anticipating worse this year.

Apropos of nothing, but I thought of Lex when I saw this last evening. Immediately. I wonder if his desk looks like this? (Too bad they’re out of stock. I’d wear one. Really.)

Today’s Pic: From the Former Happy Days archives…the last group family photo ever taken. From left to right, by row, beginning at the top: SN2, me, SN1. Daughter-in-law Alisa, The Second Mrs. Pennington holding SN3 on her lap, daughter-in-law Erma holding grandson Sean on her lap. Grand daughter Anastasia (SN2), grand daughter Amanda (SN2), grand daughter Felicity (SN1), grand daughter Natasha (SN1). SN2 has since added not one but two daughters. Rumor has it he and Alisa are working on building a girl’s basketball team.

Rochester, NY. June, 1997.

Back when time and circumstance permit…

  1. Beautiful family!! Should get a more current picture done soon, though. You may not, but someone will always cherish it (you don't have to have your exwife in it, but the kids and grandkids at least!)

    Farmer's taxes were due March 1st. And we owed. Bleh. I don't even try to do them myself. Got a guy off the square that does it for me (between the Wells Fargo bank and Farmer's insurance guy). Of course, I have to pay him to do it. But beats me trying to attempt it.

  2. I married an accountant. That means he can do our taxes, but he will file extensions until he absolutely has to break down and do our taxes - which is just fine with me.

    I love the family photo. All those dark hair grand-daughters - just beautiful. Didn't Anastasia graduate last year? We need to hear more on the grand-girls.

    I know you were stationed in San Antonio and I know you married young. I have wondered if you maybe married TFMP there.

    Missed what might have been the last opportunity to do just that last year, but SN1's kids weren't in Maine. None the less, now that grand daughter Anastasia has graduated from high school, and Felicity graduated three years ago, and Natasha graduates this year... the chances of getting everyone together for another family portrait? Slim to none...I'd wager. {sigh}

    Lou: I met TFMP in Lompoc, CA...which was (technically) my third assignment, if you count basic (San Antonio) and tech school (Biloxi, MS) as #'s one and two. Both SN1 and SN2 were born in Lompoc (well, the Vandenberg AFB hospital) and TFMP still lives there.

    You're right. I should post more on the grand kids. I'm not a very good grandfather. As a matter of fact, I'm downright poor in that role.

    If (big "if," that!) I'd have married the ex-gf she would have done my/our taxes, too...as she's a CPA, also. Fringes are good!

  4. Ack, thanks for reminding me, one more thing to put on my list of things I need to do really soon.

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
