Sunrise

Two views, same sunrise, taken a few yards outside my door. Both pics were taken at f 2.2, the top at 1/800 sec, the bottom at 1/400. There are some benefits associated with staying up all night (or rising early)!

  1. Beautiful. I don't see too many sunrises. That's prime sleeping time for me.

  2. Indeed beautiful as Laurie said. Where I live (near Escabosa, NM) I've a nice view eastward of the Estancia Valley from a ridge in the Manzano Mountains. I work in Albuquerque, about a 40 minute drive, so I'm up early often for the sunrise. They are wonderful around here, especially with some weather to mix up the field of view. Gotta love the monsoon season; this is the best/worst one (depending on your flood situation) that I can remember. And I've lived here all my life (less a stint in the Navy).

  3. Beautiful photos. I don't see too many sunrises either. I'm usually already at work. I guess a largely farming community thinks everybody needs to get up at 5:00 AM.

  4. Reese: I think I know where you are... However, when I went to Google Maps, I got the following: "We could not understand the location Escabosa, NM" and the usual admonition to make sure my spelling was correct, yadda, yadda. Our flood situation here is good, which is to say we're not flooding any more than usual, given the streets are our storm sewers... It sure is getting GREEN, though!

Becky: Or a military community, eh?

This morning's sunrise wasn't as spectacular as yesterday's, but it was pretty good. A lot depends upon, as Reese notes, the weather. No pics, though...

  5. EscAbosa, EscObosa, I've seen it both ways. Funny, I get all sorts of restaurants with a Google maps searchof "EscAbosa, NM". Must be some cookie giving guidance (Google knows all). Try "Holli Loop, 87059" in a google map. Yes, 87059 is Tijeras, and we get our mail from Edgewood (87015), but by crow we're closest to Escabosa, a miniscule town even compared to Portales. But Google maps thinks we're in Tijeras. From your perspective, I suppose it is just the greater Albuquerque metro area.

I have a picture around here somewhere that I named "April Sunrise" or something that I'll send to you somehow. It was that monster snowstorm a couple of years ago.

  6. Reese sez: Try "Holli Loop, 87059" in a google map. That worked...but you knew it would! :-)

Just across the way from Kirtland...

I'd love to see the pic, Reese. If you're gonna mail it, don't forget to take the "nospam." out of my e-mail addy!

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
