I signed a petition... one that's right dead center for us "Thanksgiving Comes First" peeps. (Go here to sign!) And what did I get for bein' a Good Guy and supporting the cause? THIS:
Hell, I don't even have **17** friends, let alone 170. Who in the Hell has 170 friends, anyway? Anyone? Bueller?

Suldog?
ReplyDeleteHe MIGHT...
DeleteWho really wants 170 friends? I'm happy with 4 or 5.
ReplyDeleteYou're a man after my own heart, Dan.
DeleteIn my area, Walmart is opening on Thanksgiving Day till 5, then re-opening at 8 PM. Target is opening at 9 PM on Thanksgiving Day.
ReplyDeleteIt will get to a point where they just will treat it as any other day.
I'm not sure what Wally-World's hours are gonna be here and we have no Target in the area, although I'd DEARLY love one.
DeleteDon't spend any money this holiday season. Let the government provide! I will not help our economy in any way. My big purchases will be at the flea market or other non taxable venues...
ReplyDeleteInteresting, Darryl.
DeleteDoesn't it depend on the definition of friend? Such as close friends, or those people you know and are friendly with, would count in different levels, but with all those lumped together I would say I have over 500. And I expect them to be at my funeral... though not too soon I hope. ;)
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't get to 100, even counting acquaintances. I believe ya gotta know someone's name to call 'em a friend.
DeleteI guess belonging to the Boy Scouts for decades and the Masons and Lions and Rotary clubs and being a leader in large Church all add up to having a lot of friends and acquaintances. I do know their names, and most of their spouses names, and childrens' names. Not to mention those I went to school with, college, work.
DeleteI think you would be surprised at how many of the loosely defined friends of yours that are out there.
I did play a little Christmas music yesterday.
ReplyDeleteWHAT!?! Aiiieee!
DeleteThanks, Buck. As to my having 170 friends, I'd say I have more than that number of nodding acquaintances (and the more I write, the more they nod... off) but real friends? Nah. I assume they mean Facebook "friends", which you wouldn't know, since - as I recall - you don't indulge in The Book Of Face.
ReplyDeleteI tried FB for about six months once upon a time... and was tempted to go back when Lex died. The Lexicans set up a private page for condolences, tributes, and general all-around commiseration... which tempted me. But I never pulled the trigger... I just COULDN'T.
DeleteI did see the petition touted on Facebook yesterday, but I didn't bite. I may have to revisit that decision.
ReplyDeleteThe president has millions of friends. Some of them are even alive. And legal.
In re: Barack's Buddies... it's good to be the King.
