Schadenfreude Я Us

I know it's not good form and it's also cold, cold comfort... but it REALLY felt good watching the Sharks... the Wings' playoff nemesis these last two years... and the Flightless Birds get eliminated last night and just now, respectively.  It makes your first-round exit easier to take when your hated rivals go out in the first round as well.

So, now it's on to today's second game.  Lordy, I just LOVE this time o' year!

  1. The number one seed in the West and The League got to get ready for the golf course tonight! The Kings won game five at 4:27 of OT. Jarrett Stoll got it past Schneider. Jonathon Quick has been amazing in the first round.
I have not rubbed the Salt and Vinegar into the Daughter in Wichita as she is a Red Wings Fan. But the Kings took all three games in Vancouver!
    Sleeper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    1. I watched the game last night and most of the series, Glenn. That's the nice thing about teams that play on the Left Coast... there's no scheduling conflicts with other games. El-Eh might could go all the way; they have GREAT goaltending, a respectable defense, and new-found offensive power. Sucks to be Vancouver. (AND Dee-troit, but we won't go there.)

  2. I tell you what: For a guy whose team didn't even make the playoffs, things sure are going swimmingly here. Canucks, Red Wings, and Sharks all out in round one? Every game from here on out is a win for me.

I'm pretty meh on the Pens and the Flyers, so that one's a wash. Though if Pitt thinks they need a little shakeup in the off season, I wouldn't mind seeing Malkin or Neal in the Burgundy and Blue.

    1. I kinda-sorta agree, especially about the Sharks. Y'all play Vancouver more than we do, so there's that. I hate Pittsburgh for what should be obvious reasons, and I don't like Philly much either... but the Flyers are easier to watch with Pronger out of the lineup.

In re: Malkin and Neal. Heh. I wouldn't hold my breath.

    2. Well, I do understand that the front office will only be able to start chasing those guys down after wrapping up Parise and Suter. But once all 4 of them are signed, we should be good to go.

    3. It's the wonderful weather, man. I'm giddy.

  3. I have to admit I felt some sadness when I heard that your Wings were eliminated. I really was hoping for a Wings - Bruins final, so that we could have had some cross-blog postings about it.

OTOH, I am thrilled that my B's stayed alive in DC yesterday. Nailbiter, but a happy ending. On to game seven (of which, in all professional sports, there is nothing as nerve-wracking as a Cup game seven.)

    1. I watched your game yesterday. As a matter of fact, watching hockey was about ALL I did yesterday. The Caps are proving to be tougher than I expected and much to your chagrin, I'm sure. You're right about Game Seven in the playoffs... I'm STILL not over Game Seven of the SCF back in 2009. I doubt that I ever will get over that one.

  4. I dunno.
Should I be happy the Canucks are out ...yeah, that's a given.
    or
Unhappy because L.A. advances ...yeah, that too.

I'm still leaning toward the idea that San Jose snuck in ...backward.

    1. Hey... your Sharks were one point better than El-Eh, and look what THEY did! ;-)

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
