Photos You Most Definitely Should See

Via Lex... The Sea Service's Annual "Year in Review" production, which is its usual outstanding self. BZ, as the Squids say.

About which... the Navy remains the winner for "Best Presentation" in this space. The USAF is getting better at this... but alas, no cigar. Not even close. Even the Army tops us for production values, if not content. Someday...
Apropos of nothing... one of the Navy's "Year" pics is from one of SN2's old rides. He was the CHENG on Mason, long ago and far away...

  1. Didn't click the links (hangs head in shame) but the pictures of servicemen and women with their arms wrapped around their kids always chokes me up.

It's so beautiful and heartbreaking in ways I can't even begin to put into words.

We were at the Blue & Gold Boy Scout Dinner last night. When three hundred people stood up and solemnly placed their hands over their chests or saluted while we pledged allegiance to the flag, tears came to my eyes. It was a simple, every day act, but so powerfully moving to my heart.

These pictures make me feel the same way.

  2. You're right, Buck, about the superiority of production values. I'm sure when the AF figures out they're behind, we'll contract this out to the Navy. ;-)

You're not alone in either regard, Daphne.

Doc: I remain amazed at how slow USAF is at "getting it," where the web is concerned. They have come a long way, as noted, but they still have a ways to go. Sub-contracting to the Navy wouldn't be a bad idea if it improved the product. Srsly.

  4. Hi there,

You mentioned on Buckskins Rule's blog that SN2 served on the Jimmy K. I was on there as an EM from 1990-1993. Was he there during that time?

  5. Lou: Yep, he was on Polk from Dec of 1988 to April of 1991, on the Blue crew. He was an A-ganger.

  6. I was on the Gold crew, so I doubt that knew him other than in passing during turnover.
