The appearance of the annual beard. Well, make that the biennial beard… coz I remained clean-shaven last year. And it was a goatee rather than a full-set beard the year before that… so perhaps the appropriate term is “biennial facial hair.” The beard may not last long this winter given all that damned gray light-blond hair. My best bearded days are far behind me… as in the days when my beard was red, red, red. Case in point:
Sigh. (SN1 on the left, SN2 on the right)
When we were on vacation in September, Toby quit shaving for the week. When we got home he shaved a bit, but saved the goatee. His beard was always reddish, but it is rather "blond" now. I really like it. I think you look good with your beard also. Don't fret the blond - Women do not mind it on men - just on themselves.
ReplyDeleteWell, no wonder you're such a nice guy. It's in your genes. You're a redhead!
ReplyDelete(Well, a former redhead, same as me.)
At least the days are still warm.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Lou - the beard looks good no matter what color. Then again, I am partial to facial hair on men - The Oracle has had a full beard for nearly 20 years. Every so often he threatens to shave. I threaten back - as only a wife can - and the beard remains in place. It's going grey-er these days and he's not happy about that, but I am.
ReplyDeleteWhich is, quite frankly, all that really matters. ;-)

ReplyDeleteThanks for the vote of confidence, Lou. I think Toby looks good with his goatee, as well... from the few pics you've posted. As for the gray... I find men can be just as "concerned about their appearance," if not MORE so, than women. (Reason for the quotes? I was gonna say "vain" but thought better of it...) ;-)

I find myself in the "former" category in lotsa areas these days. And 90% of that AIN'T good, LOL!

Roger that! The only downside is I've had to move Happy Hour up into the very early afternoon, as it's dark and cold by the time the usual summertime Happy Hour rolls around. The neighbors probably think I'm a drunk... assuming they see me knock back a couple of beers at 1400 hrs.

I LOVE a woman who has a firm grasp on reality... and flaunts it. Srsly! ;-)
Winter.... pshaw.....from Rnews:
ReplyDeleteSnow and ice caused some problems on the road overnight into early Tuesday morning. Ice on the ramp from 490 East to 590 North caused a nine-car crash early Tuesday morning.
Re: beards, I'm kinda partial to them myself.
Ain't time a bitch!?
ReplyDeleteYea... You got THAT right, Mushy. ;-)
ReplyDeleteLaurie sez: Re: beards, I'm kinda partial to them myself.
ReplyDeleteWell, now. Surprise! ;-)
About your weather: I DO relate, as you well know. And I'm glad I don't have to deal with it any longer.
You had red hair just yesterday didn't you Buck? ;)
ReplyDeleteCurious question: would you ever consider 'Just For Men' dye? (sorry, I can't even type that with a straight face!!) I think you look fine, just as handsome either w/blonde,red,or without.... Love those pics from the way back machine though... feels so 70ish! (That was just yesterday wasn't it?) lol

ReplyDeleteAnd I can't type the answer with a straight face, either! You know that ol' saying about Hell and freezing temps? I'll use that stuff right around then...
And ya, now that you mention it... it WAS just yesterday! (Actually, my hair was still red as recently as seven years ago.);-)
(The old pic was taken in 1975.)
You need to start thinking as women do, me, for example, I do not have any gray hair, but I do have "white highlights".
ReplyDeleteTwenty-six??
ReplyDeleteI've been living in paradise way too long; I tend to forget there are other parts of the continent that actually have weather.
We're still snoozing away all night long with the windows open, with window fans sucking in what's outside and circulating it like it was the Fourth of July or something. Yup. Even now.

ReplyDeleteWell... I might could think that way, but I danged sure would never say anything like that! :-)
Morgan: That temp was from our lil cold-snap the other day. We're at 72 today, bright sunshine, and no wind. Our low was somewhere in the 40s last evening... a lil too cold to sleep with my windows open now.
