PSAs are Different in Europe...

Note: you might not want to view this at work. While there is no nudity or naughty bits on display, the theme is most definitely sexual in nature.

PSA being, of course, Public Service Announcement. By the way, this clip has been viewed 3,237,209 times (as of this writing) and provoked 665 comments...not all of which I've read.

My reaction? Meh. So what, already?

  1. I would say that is definitely sexual in nature. Watching it alone is one thing; watching it with my family would be a whole nuther ball of wax. Americans are such Puritans.

We are. I have seriously mixed emotions about that...sometimes I think it's a good way to be, most times not. My attitude tends to be more liberal than most; I attribute this (in small part) to the fact I lived in France from ages 8 - 11. That and the fact my parents were fairly liberal in this area, too.

  3. I think I was more liberal in this area when I was younger and maybe single. Then kids happened and I became more protective of their innocence. Could you watch that video with your grand-daughters?

  4. Another thought: I would like to be more open with my body - not so Puritan - not so uptight about showing too much cleavage and that sort of thing. I'm not weird about seeing nudes and such. But I would rather keep what I do with my body in private just that - private.

The word verification was "rodewo" - sounds like a Texan with a lisp.

  5. Lou sez: Could you watch that video with your grand-daughters?

The four older ones (the youngest of which is 17), yes. The two little ones (both below age five), no.

Your comments about "But I would rather keep what I do with my body in private just that - private" are well-taken. I'm of the opinion that more than 90% of us feel exactly the same.

I do have some personal (albeit highly anecdotal) evidence to the contrary -- That being overheard late-night, alcohol-fueled, hen-party conversation. But what happens between The Girls stays between The Girls, I guess. And that talk certainly wasn't meant for my ears. OTOH, I've also heard "locker room" type conversations among men that made me blush, figuratively and literally.

    Just sayin'.

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
