DeleteI think he was the only NHL player I had any awareness of until 1960, when one of the networks finally started televising a game of the week on Saturday afternoons.

DeleteYou knew of him long before I did, whichever year it was. I saw my very first hockey game in 1977 in Tokyo (of all places) and my first NHL game when I moved to Dee-troit in 1985. I was a late bloomer.
