Natalie Merchant...
Sometimes, tell meWell, now. Today's tune was prompted by this exchange in comments:
While she's touching you
Just by mistake
Accidentally do you say my name?
Mon Aimee/Amiee/Amie/Amy 12 March, 2014 17:37Just be glad you didn't mention her name during the peak of carnal knowledge with a licensed partner...
@Mon Aimee: I've never, ever done that sorta faux pas. I value my life and body too much.
And that is literally true... but not figuratively so. The oh-so-sad thing is there were always three of us in the bed: me, the current object of our affections, and that woman who, in the immortal words of Bobby Dylan... "never escaped my mind."
But all the while I was alone
The past was close behind
I seen a lot of women
But she never escaped my mind and I just grew
Tangled up in blue.
Comparisons were always made and that wasn't a good thing, Gentle Reader. We were cursed.
I liked the sad song by Jessi Colter, although I've never been that sad when the door hit someones ass on the way out. Onward! Life is short. "Sentimentality is the emotional promiscuity of those who have no sentiment." - Mailer
ReplyDeleteI think that song belongs in a scientific journal, both for becoming a #1 hit and that condition being a serious mental disease :-)
I had to go looking on YouTube for Jessi to get your meaning, what with never having heard that tune; now I do. As for Mailer... He MORE than used up his 15 minutes. He should have quit after "The Naked and the Dead."
