Yet Another News Item

Russian law treats beer as a food - it could just as well be a package of pasta - and anyone who makes and sells it only has to prove that conditions are sanitary. This lack of regulation and attendant attitude, critics say, has contributed to young people starting to drink as early as age 13, paving the way to the nation's unbridled alcoholism.
The Rooshians have the right ideer.  There are four food groups: alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, and sugar.  One needs at least two servings per day of each; we're doin' OUR part.

Apropos of Russia... my team was fond of sayin' we'd all need new livers after that particular TDY was over.  We were only half joking.

  1. You forgot the ice cream food group and the White Castle food group.

  2. I'd buy the ice cream food group, but NOT White Castle... mainly coz White Castles ain't available everywhere. How 'bout we just lump 'em under a food group called "Fat?" ;-)

  3. I'd prefer to use the label "Good" and include pizza in the group, preferably Chicago pizza only.

  4. Fat is good. Witness: bacon. I rest my case.

  6. An old Navy bud called it Traveling Around Drunk. I guess the USN uses TAD instead of TDY.

We're doin' OUR part every day! Life is too short to deny yourself the simple pleasures of the 4 food groups.

  7. I'm with ya Buck. I always say that this is a drug-free body; as long as you take out the caffiene, nicotine and alcohol!

  8. Anon: Yeah, the Navy has different terms for EVERYthing. They're "different" in a lot of other ways, too... most of which ain't good. ;-)

Deb: I can make the same claim as you. Now. ;-)

Add a little chocolate to that sugar and we're good!

  10. Katy: Chocolate can fall in either the caffeine or sugar food groups. We ALWAYS have at least one serving of chocolate a day, most times more.

  11. Buck, White Castle "sliders" can be express frozen-shipped anywhere, dontcha know? WK has a special program for that, IIRC. Krogers carries 'em in the freezer section too.

At one time in the 60s N.O had ALL THREE competing variations--WK, S.East's Krystal Burger and the even lesser known Southern clone "Royal Castle" which was housed in bldgs that were almost an exact duplicate of the WK ones.

Well, no. No, I didn't. I'll file that away for use sometime in future, like when I've completely exhausted ALL my other nutrition options. ;-)

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
