No, but I will now. You can, too. We'll be twins!

I was wondering if I was going squirrely  for liking it so much. Yeah, I liked her ordinariness too, she just kind of shines all over.

Hey...

Just in from the day's errands and this was a very nice surprise!

Explanation?  Well, first... there's the sentiment.  Anyone and everyone who's ever been in love knows that "walking on air" feeling; I think I did that for three years straight in the way-back.  And the woman is devastatingly lovely in her everyday ordinariness, as is the whole danged production.  Her voice is great, too.  And the music has a retro '40s feel to it, which floats MY boat.  In short: lots to like here!

Did you post this?  Coz if you didn't I WILL.

Can you explain why this song and video makes me smile all over? I don't have a single explanation for the pleasure I'm taking from this gal.
What we're on about:

That's just HAPPY!

  2. Tryin' to put my finger on it...

I'm thinkin' Jo Stafford. Probably not...but there is a definite star quality, with regular looks.

    Kinda' like Jo...

  3. Daph: Yep!

Andy: Jo is close enuff fer me.

  4. Naw...on second thought, it ain't Jo. But, it's somebody...just can't put my finger on it. And, it IS happy.

  5. Mary Ford without the double-tracking?

  6. You're getting warm! Definitely more like Mary Ford. Definitely.

  7. Yep! I was thinkin' of this one. And both McQueen and Ford are just so danged wholesome!

  8. Jeepers!

    Good stuff!!!

Let's get a little more current. I was racking my brain for who else Ms. McQueen reminded me of (vocally).

The tempo is a bit different, and my gun-shyness as to your musical tastes almost didn't let me post this. But, I'll do it anyhow.

  9. Heh. I have that MM album. You shoulda heard TSMP and I do a duet to this tune in the way-back (along with Maria on the stereo, of course). We could NEVER finish because of the giggle-fits.... usually around the "you won't need no camel" bits.

  10. PS: I have "Waitress in a Donut Shop," too.

  11. Bwahahahahahahaha! I finally mentioned a couple of artists that didn't make you recoil in horror.

Good stuff, Buck. Ms. McQueen has a future. The only thing that bugs me is that damned tattoo above her left breffis. I hope that was just drawn on for effect.

I don't know if I've ever mentioned it before, but tats are a true turn off in Andy's world.

  12. Andy: We're cut from the same cloth where tats are concerned... they are a MAJOR turn-off for me. I could prolly tolerate one or two small innocuous ones in discreet places but other than that? Nope. Thank ya very much.

OLD war story... TSMP and I flirted with the ideer of getting each others' names tattooed on our butt cheeks. Just something way-small, with mebbe a heart next to it. We got as close as the parking lot of a couple o' tat joints on a couple of occasions but could never go thru with it.

These days I ALMOST wish we had, coz the thought of her Boy-Toy seeing MY name in certain situations would give me NO end of satisfaction. She prolly would have had it removed, tho... so mebbe not. But he would have seen it a few times in the beginning and it's the thought that counts. ;-)

Lou: That tune by Ms. Bogguss was VERY nice and you're oh-so-correct: lotsa similarities there.

And now that Happy Hour is over we must think about dinner. (sigh)

  13. Lou, I had not thought about Suzy in a coon's age. Great stuff!

Buck, I will not go there with the boy-toy deal, because I have been one myself...often.

    Nyuk!

  14. I listened to Suzy the rest of the afternoon. "Night Rider's Lament" may be my favorite song ever (written by Ian Tyson).

  15. What a sweet video. Say yes to being happy! I like it.

(Can we go back to the part where Andy has been a boy-toy -- and often. Oh, my goodness!)

  16. Kath: I think Andy and I use the term in ENTIRELY different ways. At least I certainly HOPE so. ;-)

  17. My God, what a cutie, and a delightfully mature singer.

I can dimly remember a girl smiling at me like that, and man do I miss it.

    Win.
