I'll take here to gloat about Mich State's win over ND--Sorry, Buck, I'm an "anybody but ND" man. (And what about the MS coach having a heart-attack!--and they wonder why coaches get gray hair.) We're "frienemies" all the way on that score. :) And AFA gave OU all they wanted--almost made your dream come true, Buck. My LSU has STILL not jelled on offense--DESPITE all the talent. Should transplant the offense from Boise State, Oregon, or Oregon State--take your pick--what a trio of offensive powerhouses. Mich. STILL has problems. A close game w. UMASS??? NO "D" whatsoever. WVA looks great w. that young QB, who may be nation's best. Nebraska looked/is stronger than I thought. Texas good, but not great. Ohio State looks good, but hasn't played anyone. My Fighting Illini are a lost cause again. They struggled to beat the Northern Ill Huskies. Both AZ & AZState look to have really good teams despite State's loss at Wisc. I'm TRULY shocked about how REALLY, REALLY bad Ole Miss is.. Mizzou is a team, like ILL, that considering it's tradition, should be better than it is.. Hated Ala is great and Fla not far behind--but still behind. I was rooting for Clemson...tough way to lose..wonder if their ping-pong team won this weekend to off-set the loss? :)
I couldn't get your comments section to load once again for a couple of weeks and entire site would freeze, so quit visiting in frustration--now I can again--electrons as gremlins...
Robin Olds was Wing CO of the 81st TFW at RAF Bentwaters/Woodbridge (my Wing) in the early 60's with Chappie James as his VC (or DCO, can't remember). The Quonset hut I was first assigned to on Bentwater side as a BOQ was occupied by Chappie James as an O-6 bachelor where he and Robin Olds used to get drunk, climb on the roof and toss empty beer cans at passing civilian car traffic, so the legend goes. (it was near road separated only by hedgerow.) Courtsmartial or Art. 32 City today...(course if you're the Wing CO whose going to complain?) A different Galaxy in a parallel universe long, long ago far, far, away..
Emmylou is just pretty darn good and the guitar here is great. I hate to say it, but my ex-SIL may have a better voice, just as pretty, and has a good stage presence, but being a crazy woman tends to make you not as popular as a Lady like Emmylou.

Heh. I KNOW what ya mean, Lou. Not about your ex-SIL, obviously, but crazy women in general. You're right about the other stuff, too. I've always loved both Knopfler and Emmylou... together they're dyn-o-mite!
Virgil: Nice CFB analysis! I'm thinkin' the traditional Big Rivalry Games will be ossum this year... with the possible exception of OSU (ptui!) - Big Blue. The SEC will be interesting, as always. I hope 'Bama loses to Arkansas next week, just because. I couldn't care less about the rest of it, tho. The other rivalry game I'm looking forward to is Texas - OU, where I'd dearly love to see that Red team go down again. YOU hate ND, I feel the same way about OU.
Thanks for the beer can story. I wonder why that anecdote didn't make it into his memoirs? ;-)
