I'm tempted to put out words out to the effect that this tune helped me get laid a lot. That may or may not be true; in the end any man with half a brain knows that women are the ones that decide when and where El Supremo happens... if it does.
Still. We included this tune in those "enhance the mood" cassettes we built back in the day and played to good effect during seduction scenarios. Or so we thought. At any rate... this song played in the foreground more than a few times when we got lucky in the way-back, either by accident or by design.
This tune also qualifies for the ongoing-and-still-alive-in-this-theatre guitar war/show... by virtue of the ten-second guitar outro at the very end, which is one of the most emotional guitar solos evar. The interplay between the acoustic and electric guitars throughout the piece is sublime, as well. On the whole: Marvelous.

ReplyDeleteBuck, I never heard this before. But I do like it and the guitars and that bass are truly easy on the ears. Smooth. And I can see why you would include this on a seduction tape.
ReplyDeleteYou and your readers probably already know this but the seduction tape can be approached from different angles, depending on the "kind" of end result desired. Is it that kind of slow stuff with rain falling? Or is it a flaming wall banging experience that is desired?
For example, Zepplin's "Black Dog" was once...well, I think I'll stop there.

ReplyDeleteAlthough this made me laugh, I guess it is true, but only because men are such sluts that nothing else would get done in the world without someone to say no now and then.
As usual... I thought of something to append to that statement, Lou. After the fact. Something on the order of "we make suggestions in this space, all y'all decide whether or not to act on 'em."

Jim: There may be a slight resemblance, but I don't see it.
On this subject the song that comes to mind is "slow ride" Foghat. And, uhm, as I recall, sex back then took about as long as that song from seduction straight to the end. LOL!

Although I am early GenX (in high school in the early 80s) and do love some of the early 80s music (The Cars, Devo, X, The Cult, etc.), lately, I have been getting into the late 60s/early-mid 70s music. Led Zep, The Stones, The Who, The Doors, even Foghat thanks to you. So, my question to you and the other commenters for this post, what was on your "mood enhancing" cassette back in the 60s/70s/early 80s.
