In today's mail...
Yeah, I knew it was junk-mail before I opened it... yet still. One can dream, eh?
There were most definitely better things in the mail today... and LOTS of 'em, too. I've mentioned this before, but I only check snail-mail about every two weeks or so. I should check more often during the holidays, coz my box was literally stuffed. Here's one of the best items:
That's Lou's Christmas card above. She takes the "small" paintings she does every year and turns them into Christmas cards... I count myself among the VERY fortunate recipients of her creations. She's a very talented woman, as you can tell. Last year's card is here, if you'd like more. (as always and ever, click for larger)
Thanks for posting my card and linking me. I need to go back to doing a painting a week to keep people interested in my art. Maybe it will be a New Year's resolution. I painted this from a photo taken in Rome. The Coliseum would be just to the left out of view.
ReplyDeleteHow cool!! Very worthy of being framed, I'd say. Lou, you are very talented. can't believe you can just whip up some of these for your Christmas cards! I can't even whip up a stick figure! LOL!
ReplyDeleteLou: You're MOST certainly welcome for the post and linkage. And thanks for answering my question about the arch. I agree: you DO need to go back to doing a painting a week. There are next year's Christmas cards to consider!
ReplyDeleteJenny: Too late... the letter is already in the trash. It was just a garden-variety fund raising letter (which is why I placed the envelope over the letter), albeit with a most-famous autopen signature.
And yeah: Lou IS talented, ain't she!!
Buck what a great idea to display Lou's card! I have a new printer/scanner... hope you don't mind if I jump on the bandwagon and do the same! Her work is awesome and should be shared! Soon as I get home tonight I'm gonna give it a try!
ReplyDeleteBuck, I was talking about Lou's card being frameworthy, not Laura's letter. LOL!
ReplyDeleteAlison: I'm looking forward to seeing your scans!
ReplyDeleteJenny: Oops. My bad. ;-)
A beautiful card! It's good to see that people still mail out Christmas cards instead of always relying on email to give such sentiments.
ReplyDeleteYou just pushed my Guilt Button, Michelle. I haven't sent out Christmas cards in WELL over ten years. But, like you, I'm glad some folks hold on to the tradition. Most especially Lou. ;-)
ReplyDeleteWow -- double treat in this post:
ReplyDeleteA note from Laura Bush, junk mail or not, is to be treasured. She herself is a national treasure in my opinion. I do not think the next first lady will be gracious and cultured in the way Laura Bush is.
And speaking of a treasure -- what a wonderful card from Lou. Very very lovely work and something to keep forever. Beautiful!
Sharon: I admit I got a small rush when I saw that "Laura Bush" return addy on the envelope... but it's in the landfill now. And yeah: great work from Lou!
