Well, delivered to the Official USPS Big Blue Box that sits here on the grounds of Beautiful La Hacienda Trailer Park, anyway. And soon to arrive in Livingston, one would assume.
More in a bit. I'm off to yet another late start today, but my civic duty has been done.
Nobama.
Got the start on my civic duty this past week. Ensured that The Oracle and I are securely on the voting registration lists in our small town. We are. We are ready for November 4th.
ReplyDeleteDepending on the outcome, is our country ready?
For change we'll live to regret. Nobama.
Yup. it's gonna be early voting for me.
ReplyDeleteBuck- what's your take on the Collin Powell news?
ReplyDeleteI'm planning on voting this Thursday. I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteI guess I will just wait until November, sigh.
ReplyDeleteI am one of those old-fashioned weird people who LOVE ELECTION DAY. It would never even occur to me to vote early, because I love going to the polls on election day so much. The day carries so much significance and meaning and memories for me.
ReplyDeleteHere is the thing that worries me so much about early voting.. What if some really HUGE negative news comes out about Obama or McCain TWO DAYS before election day -- how many votes were already cast and it is TOO LATE to change them???
Of course when it comes to elections, I guess I worry a lot about too many variables.
Several of the state polls are tightening. Still seems too late for McCain but who knows? I am still hoping maybe enough people wake up in time to realize what they are getting if they elect Obama.
Since we are so close here in Ohio, I plan on voting at least 5 times....anybody have the ACORN phone number?
ReplyDeleteI love going in and seeing the elderly ladies staffing the polling place - especially like seeing their faces when they see an "L" next to my name and they try to figure out just what in heck that means, since it's not a "D", "R", or "I" :-)
ReplyDeleteI used to like the physicality of pulling the levers in the booth, but where I live now it's all on paper. Still a rush, though, especially considering how much blood has been spilled protecting my right to vote.
This will be my first time to vote in New Mexico. In Kansas we always used the old machines with the levers. I HOPE we have those here.
ReplyDeleteKris sez: Depending on the outcome, is our country ready?
ReplyDeleteWell, half of it is...if one believes the polls.
Phlegmmy: I have no choice about early voting... unless I wanna drive the 500+ miles to Livingston on Nov. 4th. Which I don't. ;-)
Pat sez: Since we are so close here in Ohio, I plan on voting at least 5 times....anybody have the ACORN phone number?
LOL, Pat!
Christina sez: I'm planning on voting this Thursday. I can't wait!
How does that work in Vegas? Do they open the polls when "early voting" begins and keep them open all the way to the Fourth of November?
Lou: Just don't forget to go!!
Sharon sez: Several of the state polls are tightening. Still seems too late for McCain but who knows? I am still hoping maybe enough people wake up in time to realize what they are getting if they elect Obama.
Well, it ain't over until it's over... McCain IS gaining, but then there's the bandwagon effect to think about, too. A lot of folks seem to be going for Obama because "everyone else is." Stupid-ass reasoning, to be sure, but that's the nature of most Obama voters, anyway (IMHO).
I agree with you about loving election day, Sharon. But I've voted absentee for most of my life (always while in the military), including the last ten years.
Alison asks: Buck- what's your take on the Collin Powell news?
It hurt, no doubt. I'd rather he had endorsed McCain... and this gives The One yet another talking point for his rallies. But I DID like McCain's comeback: "I have the endorsements of FOUR former SecStates." So... does ONE endorsement end it all, if that endorser is Colin Powell? No. It's unfortunate, but not fatal.

I liked the old machines, too. Especially when you pulled the master lever to record your vote and open the curtains. I LOVED the mechanical sounds and the swishing of the curtain... it seemed so "official!" Funny how that sort of stuff stays with you!
Sharon sez: I HOPE we have those here.
I wouldn't hold my breath, Sharon, based on what I've seen on the local news out of ABQ. It looks like most of NM has "new" machines.
