Kinda Unusual

The view from the study window this morning...

And, for comparison's sake, last July...

Fog in an arid climate.  Who'd a thunk it?  I think I MIGHT have seen three foggy days in the 12 years I've lived on The High Plains o' New Mexico.

This caught my eye while goin' through the overnight mail:

That describes me to a tee.  What AM I doin' right?

    1. I have about six or ten comebacks to that, Skip, most having to do with advancing age. I'll spare you those.

  2. Hah! I never thought of that - fog and aridity in collocation. . .

'Cuz we gets LOTS of fog in these bodacious parts. . .

When people I meet for the first time ask me to describe my lifestyle in retirement I ans: "I'm just a loose cannon on the deck of life." BUT, lol, I was ALWAYS that way. :)

    1. Hmmm. I can relate to the loose cannon bit. Totally.

    1. I believe that "lack o' stress" bit. I have pretty much zero stress in life at the moment.

  5. OK,
    I will ask, Why Portales?
Back in the days of casa movil you could have shifted home port to Key West or Cabo.

    1. Why Portales? I like the place. The people are friendly; crime is low to non-existent; there's low, low, LOW traffic; the weather is decent (very few triple digit days in summer, not much snow in winter); and P-ville is far enough off the beaten path where the only folks that come to see me are folks I WANT to see. My kids used to run me hard with the same logic when I was still in El Casa Móvil ("Dad! You can live anywhere you want! Why do you stay THERE?").

      Oh, and inertia. ;-)

  6. Some of the worst fog experiences I've encountered were in the deserts of New Mexico.Including a near miss with an eighteen wheeler at a 4 way stop outside of Roswell.

    1. Really? I think my worst fog experiences were on the MS/LA Gulf Coast and in England.

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
