That was cause for much angst on my part... do I change, or do I just wipe it off? I usually opted for the "wipe it off" option.Buckhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05319116022465066060noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18232353.post-90030243185529735712013-03-01T14:53:24.619-07:002013-03-01T14:53:24.619-07:00When Toby got his first job in downtown Dallas wor...When Toby got his first job in downtown Dallas working for a big oil company, he had to have several suits. He hated it. We kept those suits for a long time, but he has never needed them again (he does own a nice suit for special occasions). Probably everyone of those old suits had baby puke on the shoulder where Jesse or Bo christened him before work every morning. Now He has to wear what he calls "girl britches" to work. And I have to iron them. True story: there was a long, floor-to-ceiling glass enclosed bridge between the parking garage and the office building I worked in at my first civilian job after I retired from the AF. This bridge passed over a four-lane street, so it took about a minute and a half to walk the length of the ting at a pretty fast clip. Seein' as how I was an "early guy," it would usually be dark when I was on my in from the garage... and I would be alone. I always used to look at my reflection in that glass every morning and think "Is this REALLY me? I look pretty damned good, I do!"<br /><br />So, yeah... I relate.Buckhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05319116022465066060noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18232353.post-20804834907114461452013-03-01T04:43:33.103-07:002013-03-01T04:43:33.103-07:00On the same Casual Friday "cost of clothing&q...On the same Casual Friday "cost of clothing" theme, I remember, Lord, almost 30 yrs ago, sitting in my young son's Drs office waiting--waiting-waiting- and reading a NYT Sunday Mag article pointing out the fact that "these days you have to be rich just so you can dress your kids well enough to look middle-class." Just like you, in the '90s I had grown-up clothes for the first time, and actually kinda got into nice suits, English shoes, cotton shirts and silk ties. To my surprise, I dug it and got good at it, too.<br /><br />And the rest of the time I wore blue jeans and boat shoes and shorts and Hawaiian shirts.Robnoreply@blogger.com
