Well, mebbe a few imams.

I was pretty surprised the first time I heard Her Majesty, too. As you say, it was a real "Oh, wow!" moment. It's strange how our tastes change and evolve, eh? That said, I also bout AR without hearing it first... but I was knocked out on first listen. We have a similar opinion of the White Album, as well.Buckhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05319116022465066060noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18232353.post-58135622715409515512013-10-06T11:35:41.018-06:002013-10-06T11:35:41.018-06:00You can't avoid or deny it, Virgil: we're ...You can't avoid or deny it, Virgil: we're OLD.Buckhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05319116022465066060noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18232353.post-73438107569072294442013-10-06T11:35:02.468-06:002013-10-06T11:35:02.468-06:00Agreed, as noted.Agreed, as noted.Buckhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05319116022465066060noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18232353.post-859835081543944202013-10-06T08:11:57.231-06:002013-10-06T08:11:57.231-06:00I had to buy multiple copies of this album. At that time Sheet music was terrible, so I would play a passage of the song I was working at trying to learn, stumbling through it, then playing it over again.

Being my instrument of choice is the piano, I was thrilled at the amount of piano in the medley. I learned guitar as well because of wanting to duplicate the songs of this album.

I also loved hearing Her Majesty. It was such a shock the first time I heard it. Like... oh wow! Where'd that come from?

Thanks! Brings back a ton of memories. It is Raw Power by Iggy & The Stooges. But Abbey Road would certainly be in my Top 10 of those I've most enjoyed.Suldoghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07778845367184916684noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18232353.post-63580093346360070122013-10-05T19:15:39.990-06:002013-10-05T19:15:39.990-06:00I was bummed-out by the white album (bunch of over...I was bummed-out by the white album (bunch of over-dubbed caca). I think it even ruined my needle, and it actually sounded better on my brothers needle which looked like a nail.

I did buy the Abbey Road album without listening to it first. I didn't really like it on first go, but it kind of sounded better a few years later. At the time I was listening to Doors, CCR, and Jefferson Airplane. I liked music that was simple, had a groove, and had very little if any symphony backing. If the bass wasn't rattling my brain, it wasn't loud enough.

Today, I like symphony much more :-)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18232353.post-15636911360472160462013-10-05T18:57:59.948-06:002013-10-05T18:57:59.948-06:00STOP IT!
