Note the photo credit. I think bein' a USAF photographer HAS to be the best job on the E side o' the house and boom operator would be a close second. Fixing heavy ground radar would be somewhere near the bottom of the pile. Go on... ask me how I know about my last.

Being the repairer or maintainer of anything military has a major downside.

DeleteThe Thunderbirds are going to be down at Mountain Home AFB (out south of Boise, Idaho) here in a week in a half or so. Hope this show goes better than the last one... solo two hammered his bird into the runway on his first loop after takeoff... he ejected safely, which is a good result when you set your altimeter incorrectly. I never get sick of the show, though.
ReplyDeleteI think I've seen video of that incident, Dano. I envy you... I haven't seen the 'Birds in so long I've forgotten when and where that last airshow was.
DeleteWe have an airshow at Redding in a couple of weeks.

I appears I may miss it, though, except for the preliminary stuff that always goes on over my house.
I've seen the Snowbirds fly. They're excellent!
DeleteSo, just try fixing sea based radar! No fans, no friends, no support and it's always your fault the silly thing broke. No beer, no quarters, no girls, no liberty. Oh yeah, and seasick to boot. :)
ReplyDeleteI won't argue your point... not at all. As a matter of fact, I used these very arguments when I found out SN2 was considering the Navy... to no avail.
