Which is all about The One's new campaign slogan. From Hot Air:
Of course, that’s not the direction this video takes. It takes over three minutes looking backward, including the first minute of what took place before Obama took office. After a brief shot at Republicans who “tried to tear this President down” — by, er, opposing his policies, which didn’t seem to bother Democrats while George W. Bush was in office — we get a couple of minutes of ball-spiking over the deaths of Osama bin Laden and Anwar al-Awlaki. When does the video get to the “Forward” part? Er … when there are 50 seconds left in the video, and even then, it doesn’t offer any specific policy goals — just platitudes:What follows the above is a seven-plus minute Obama campaign video, which I did NOT watch. There are some things in life I take on faith, like Mr. Morrissey's description of the video. Watching The One before I've finished my first cup is a bridge too far.
"Watching?" Hell, Buck, I can't even stand the sound of his voice anymore let alone watch him--I hit the mute button or switch channels in a nano-second--got it down to pure reflex by now.
ReplyDeleteSorry to have somehow missed Monday and the weekend, we were at Jazz-fest for its first weekend, up in "Big BR" presently to pick up a nephew and drive back to N.O as we are headed out in late flight to the Ky Derby this weekend to celebrate my 68th (GAAK!!!) Birthday (May 6th) and renew old friendships. We haven't been back since we left in '94. Will get there tonight in time for the Balloon races, Steamboat race, Pegasus Parade, etc. Even have box seats for both "The Oaks" (used to be "the locals" race for the "unrich" but even the Oaks is now a tough ticket.)on Fri AND the Derby on Sat. thanks to an old friend and very, very rich industrialist from Chicago who is flying us up corporate-jet style as a Birthday present. Staying with old friends from Louisville as well. Too bad the second weekend of Jazz-fest coincides with Derby-day, but one can't have everything, lol.
PS: Count me as yet another who has never seen Titanic the movie and never intend to waste my time doing so either. We Geezers have our pride, you know--gotta stick together on this boycott if only on general principles! lol!
Dang, Virg... you have some GREAT friends! I've never been to the Derby but have heard stories, which mostly involved loose wimmen and such. Which, of course, is kinda-sorta outta my league now that we're old and decrepit. But I's still like to have the experience and a mint julep or six. Raise one fer me, willya?
DeleteI hope you have a great hat for the races! It's on my bucket list.
DeleteThis is the second time in a week I've had a reason to post a link to an old post in someone's comments. The last one was about Obama's incredibly boring speeches. My blogging past is trying to make up for my empty blogging present, it seems.
ReplyDeleteNow I'm wonderin' why and/or how I passed up commenting on that one.
DeletePS: Forgot to mention my nephew is in a HS All-Star Jazz-band that played at Jazz-fest this weekend! (He plays keyboard/piano AND sax) He's just back up here in BR packing for the trip to Louisville. What a back-to-back weekend for that young kid, eh!?
ReplyDeleteSome kids are blessed, eh?
DeleteI don't even like looking at pictures of the man anymore.
ReplyDeleteHave we officially crossed into ODS territory???
It's not derangement, it's simply TRUE.
DeletePres. Bush may not be to blame, but then again...He and the Republicans had a chance to make significant changes while they had the majority and they sat on their arses and deepened their pockets. Isn't that why the nation chose a different president... well other than because of his color. Did I say that?
ReplyDeleteHeh. We'll let sleeping dogs lie. Except for the comments about Dubya and the GOP... which are spot-on. They share the blame for the financial mess we're in.
DeleteWell they may share the blame however they aren't there to fix it or deal with it. And Obama has taken a mess and just made it worse.
