Blog-Bud Pat sent this vid along via e-mail as a stand-alone wmv file and I thought it was cute. So, I searched for it... thinking there's not much out there that ain't already on YouTube. And yep... there it was. And here it is:
Those sexist Commie Pigs. Shouldn't they have a lil bit more respect for people of the female persuasion? No? You don't think so?
Me neither. Ikinda really miss the days when Male Chauvinist Pigs ran wild in our advertising industry. It seems the Euro-Weenies have it ALL over us when it comes to mildly titillating and humorous eye-candy. I don't think there's a single solitary thing wrong with that, ya know. YMMV, especially if you're a woman. But hopefully not.

Me neither. I
Men! ;)
ReplyDeleteYou crack me up Buck!
I thought it was funny.
ReplyDeleteLOL! Gonna have to try that some time. Question is, how many beers you gonna have to drink while practicing before trying it in a room full of people.
ReplyDeleteBack in 1953 when times were tough in Japan they were beginning to get their feet wet in western Advertising, and liked it. Now look at them. They do some of the sweetest ads I have ever seen in my life. Their women in ads for everything from umbrellas to business suits are exceptional, simple and modern and beautiful. Just like their modern bedrooms with furniture to die for. And I slept on a rolled up whatcamacallit on the floors.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit to my blog Brookville Daily Photo this morning. I hope you enjoyed my post today showing the baby rabbit eating the hibiscus flower.
I am now taking a diminishing dose of steroids for my Rheumatoid Arthritis pain and it works. I am pain free. I believe the chemotherapy drug is spelled "Methotrexate" that is used to treat a lot of things from cancer to arthritis and it has side effects that are troubling. So I need to talk to my doctor about it before I take it. Just missing a dose can be a real nightmare.
Anyway, I wanted you to know I stopped-in to repay your visit and comment with mine.
I enjoyed reading your blog post for today about the video and advertising and I thought it was wonderful.
I don't know if you like to read or not but if you do this place is amazing.
I just got my first shipment of used books from Strand's bookstore in New York City, yesterday. They have 18 miles of used books. Think about that. Anyway, they got here and I am totally happy with those I chose to read. I had to start out by just choosing a category, like photography, and go from there. I don't know how in the world they can keep track of so many books.
Look up Strand bookstore or copy and paste the URL here: http://www.strandbooks.com/app/www/p/home/
I'm just sorry I wasn't around for the golden age of advertising.
ReplyDeleteI'm woman enough to not be offended by that kind of advertising. I think it's pretty funny.
ReplyDeleteIt's really guite ironic that we (women)spend all of our time dieting and exercising and highlighting and waxing and lotioning so that men will think we are sexy and then we get offended when they do.
Jenn, Ash, and Becky: Glad all y'all liked it.
ReplyDeleteLaurie: Practice makes perfect! In this case, practice might lay ya out on the floor, tho. ;-)
Abe: Your photos are ALWAYS amazing. I stop by your place every day, but I don't always comment. And thanks for the link!
Mike: You may have missed the first-run ads, but there's always these here inter-tubes. A surprising amount of "sexist" stuff is out there...
Amy sez: t's really guite ironic that we (women)spend all of our time dieting and exercising and highlighting and waxing and lotioning so that men will think we are sexy and then we get offended when they do.
Some people think women do all that stuff for other women, rather than men. I'm just glad there are women out there who still enjoy looking good... for whomever.
And... apropos of nothing, if I EVER meet a woman who wears a bottle opener as a necklace I'm gonna run her hard! That would be a helluva good sign (as in personality indicator) on many, many levels... ;-)

ReplyDeleteI'm rather inclined to agree with this statement. It's a competition thing, not so much to impress men, but to outdo other women. IMVHO (Note the skilz). ;)
Skilz noted, Becky! :-)
